We have just launched a new project activity: A photo contest. This activity is open to all the oldest pupils in this school, from the 1 st year of Secundary education ( ESO) on .
The pupils should take photographs that somehow represent the idea of coexistence between cultures as something positive ,and enriching.

Short Story Competition

We have just launched a short story contest for students in 4th year of college. The kids have to write a short story about intercultural education, the winners will get their stories published in a small book of Tales for Peace.Those of you interested in participating can read the database below:

Short stories contest for 4 th ESO pupils
1. Open to all 4th year students of the school.
2. The work presented will have a maximum of 3 pages, typed double-spaced on one side. Font Size "Times New Roman" 12.
3. The work should be unpublished, it can be written in Spanish or Galician.
4. The theme of the work will be intercultural education. It's about creating a story that somehow raises the coexistence of cultures and enrichment that this entails.
5. The jury will be made up for the headmistress, the Spanish language teachers, the English teacher of 4th ESO and the educational guidance.
6. The delivery period starts on January 31st and ends on February 15th. The work will be delivered on paper to the corresponding language teacher and emailed to:

7. The works submitted will become property of "Tales for Peace", which reserves the right to publish them.
8. The prize will be publishing the best works in a small book with different works related to this subject, and in general with the project "Tales for Peace"
9. Participation in this competition implies acceptance of all its bases.

Activity: English Workshop

Next Tuesday 24th January, an Erasmus student studying at University of Ulster ( Northern Ireland) is coming to talk to our students about the differences between our way of living and the way young people do it in the UK, These differences refer to every aspect of life, culture, religion and so on.Our pupils should try to make as many questions as possible, trying to improve their English and learn about another culture and other races. It is a Comenius activity.We hope you enjoy it!

Activity: Italian Workshop

Activity: Italian workshop. Last Friday, students travelling to Parma in March started a small Italian workshop . There will be four classes during which the teacher, Sister Ana M ª Rifón, will try to provide them with a basic knowledge to manage in everyday life in Italy. Although the project activities will be in English,the daily living with families will be in Italian and therefore they need a minimum to handle.From here we want to thank Sister Ana for the time we are taking up from her and for being such a hard work .

After a hard deliberation we have decided to declare two winners in the contest: powerpoints about the school, they are the following groups:

Group II: Maria Fernanda Cozzolino, Carla Vidal, Lucia Rodriguez and Maria Conde.

Activity: Christmas pictures

This is the second activity we are promoting from our blog. Try to take as many pictures as you can on this Christmas break of our most typical habits in this kind of dates such as food, drinks, decorations, the most remarkable days, the Three Wise Men...Our members from the Czech Republic, Poland and Italy are doing this as well. Our School - Coordinators Meeting in Parma - 2011

Activity: creating a powerpoint. Topic :Our school

This term the first activity of Tales for Peace will consist of creating a powerpoint presenting our school. This powerpoint presentation is our calling card to the other partners and therefore it should also reflect the location of our school in the community (Oleiros, A Coruña, Spain).
Students will meet in small groups for this activity.
This presentation will be conducted in English and must be sent to the following e-mail adress: talesforpeace.cristorey @ gmail.com. The deadline for submission is December 13 th.
The best presentation will be posted on the page of the project at European level and we will post all others on our blog.
This activity will be assessed in the subject of English.

Meeting of all teachers involved in Tales for Peace

Last week the teachers responsible for Tales for Peace in our school travelled to Parma (Italy) to attend a Meeting of all the teachers involved in the project. In this Meeting there were representations of the four partner countries: Italy, Poland, Czech Republic and Spain.
Those were days of knowledge and work among all partners. Main activities were scheduled to be carried out this year, and are aimed at improving the coexistence of different cultures through knowledge and collaboration.
There was also time to visit the city of Parma and be hosted by different local authorities, as the President of the Community of Parma.
Hopefully this is the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration.

Yesterday, a meeting was held with parents of our learners. During the course of the meeting, our Comenius Learning Partnership was presented and explained.

We start our Comenius Project !!

Our school is involved in a Comenius Project named TALES FOR PEACE. It's a Comenius learning partnership involving different schools of the European Union, from Spain (here we are!!!!), Italy, Poland and Czech Republic.
Our official language will be English, although some activities may also arise in French.
From our school will participate several students from 15 to 17 years, with the coordination of two teachers.

The T4P Project will be our adventure for the next two academic years (2011-2013).

Our principal aim is creating a space for students to express their interests, hopes, thoughts, points of view .... about topics of intercultural education, the common European identity and the struggle against racism.
Our activities will be published in two main outcomes: a story, after the first year of the project, and a comic, after the second year (both of them in English).
Other products may be done by learners: a presentation of our school, our region, our country, ... and posting their articles on this blog and/or the website of the project.
There will be two annual meetings which bring together learners and teachers from the schools involved. These transnational visits will be for one week with accommodation in students' homes of the host school.
The criteria for selection of the students who will participate in the international meetings will be: the quality of essays, the knowledge and correct use of English language and the academic performance during the academic year.
